Moving Day Is Near!

The countdown is on... Moving day is near! Some people hate moving - Me? I thrive on it! Why? Well, I love new beginnings. I love discovering my new surroundings. I love packing and then unpacking and having the feel of excitement in decorating a new home different than your old home. I love settling in to a new canvas. I love everything about moving. Odd, right?

We're moving into the city and out of the burbs. I'm actually only going to be about 4 miles from my work and THAT excites me SO much! I'm never, ever lived that close to my office before. I've always had a commute of at least 30 minutes. NO MORE TRAFFIC! I don't even have to get on the interstate to get to work! I can actually go through a Starbucks drive-thru on the way to work... it's the little things! :)

It should be known that my husband and I have had 10 different addresses in 13 years. Alot, I know... but each move had a purpose. Three moves were moving into a different state mostly due to job transfers, and most of them have been local moves from one apartment to another for one reason or another, then to now... our new home. We've lived in our current home longer than we've lived anywhere. I (we) became stale, and we got "the itch" to move. A BIG reason for our move was wanting to actually have a yard since our house now doesn't exactly have one, even though it is a house BUT it's a very small yard at only .15 of an acre. Sad. Even though our furry kids are big couch potatoes (as are we) I still yearned for them to have a relatively decent sized yard to play in. The home we're moving to not only has a yard that 3x the size of our current home, but it's also fenced! Score! To know that I can just open up the back door and let them go outside to play, safely, is a great feeling a dog owner. Murphy, our lab, has been trained on the invisible fence system at our current home but we never got around to train our Pit, Harley on it so she's been on a long lead system to allow her to roam the back yard without being on an actual leash. I can't wait for them to see their new backyard. They are going to love it! And, I'm going to love it for them!

The house itself is just fantastic! It has original hardwoods, custom built-ins, a gorgeous wood burning fireplace and HUGE stone mantle, a formal dining room (which I don't have now), good size spare rooms, a MASSIVE master, and each bedroom has custom built-in shelves in the closets. It's perfect. And the best part? It's all on ONE level! It's a 80's ranch, which we just simply adore. Spending the past 4 years going up & down a flight of stairs got very, very tiring. And another thing that I'm looking forward to that most people would find odd? This house actually has mature trees! You see, our home now has NO mature trees. It has a single tree that I wouldn't even call a tree, next to our mailbox that was installed by the builder of the subdivision. It's like everyone else's tree. It's a crappy tree. It's been our "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree". I might miss calling it that, but I won't miss the tree. There is no landscaping abilities in our current home either, and if you even tried to do something creative you'd end up encroaching on someone else's yard. I'm really looking forward to actually having a yard where I can put my stamp on it. You know, do a little of this and a little of that. I'm already envisioning how I'll decorate it for Halloween & Christmas! Crazy!

So, I've been packing like crazy the past couple of weeks. I've been throwing alot away and selling things I should've sold a LONG time ago. My garage is filled with empty boxes just waiting to be packed with items for the new house and after this weekend they should all be filled. We move on the 28th so there's not alot of time left!

I'm crazy excited! Can you tell?

I'll post pictures of the big day... until then, wish me luck in my moving adventure!
