Adele Performing "Someone Like You" at the MTV VMA Awards

I have loved Adele and her incredible talent since the very beginning when she released "Chasing Pavements", but nothing could have made me love, make that, ADORE her more than hearing her sing "Someone Like You" on the MTV VMA Awards last night. It gripped me. It gave me the chills. And, from the looks of things, it gave the audience chills too! That voice! And her control. Stunning.

She is truly fantastic and incredibly gifted and I can certainly appreciate & respect everything she brings to music.

In case you didn't see the VMA's last night, or care to watch her again and again and again... watch below!

Christina Perri featured on The Bold & The Beautiful!

I've been watching The Bold & The Beautiful for over 15 years and this past Friday was the best surprise ever! No, it wasn't anything regarding the actors, the plot twists (it IS a soap opera!), or the fact that it was a Friday show which are always the best... none of that. It was the very fact that Christina Perri's song "Arms" was featured during an emotional scene between two of the main actors! OH MY! I was so ecstatic to hear THIS song for THIS scene/plot. It was perfect!

Just another reason why I love, love, love Christina Perri. Her songs truly capture so many real, raw emotions and I couldn't be happier that she's getting the exposure she so incredibly deserves!

Check out her website! & her YouTube channel!

I've added the music video to "Arms" below... Enjoy!

Britney Spears Femme Fatale Tour - Raleigh, NC 8/24/11

This past week I went to the Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Tour with my sister-in-law, and I, just like I had been two years ago during her Circus Tour, was blown away at what a spectacle it turned out to be! She certainly still has it and I was not disappointed! I was, however, upset that cameras weren't allowed, even though I saw several people have them. I on the other hand had my entire bag searched inside & out! Ah well, at least I had my phone which has a bombdiggity camcorder! The photos didn't turn out so well, but the videos... well, take a look!

I was able to get a few funny pics of DJ Pauly D on the large screen - HILARIOUS, and the last one, kinda smexy!

I wasn't really sure what to expect with DJ Pauly D, but I actually really, really enjoyed it! I was fist pumpin' the entire time! My arms were sore! I thought he was incredibly entertaining, but I'm sure Nicki Minaj would have been awesome too, so I think I'm a little bummed she didn't come to Raleigh. Also, I heard after the fact that there was supposed to be a catwalk... there wasn't one! Why was Raleigh slighted? But nonetheless, the show was awesome and I, and my Britney-In-Concert virgin SIL too, thoroughly enjoyed it!

Saturday Bargain Hunting

What a Saturday this has been! First, I am woken up by my Munchkin, Nugget being even more affectionate than usual - He was basically my alarm clock. Normally I would gently nudge him off me as I'm not a morning person, but I didn't have the heart today. He was just so darn cute! I had my phone nearby, since the alarm starting going off, so I was able to snap these adorable pictures before he decided he was bored with me! :)

And a quick video, just before he got bored...

{My apologies for the groggy voice - again, I had just woken up!}

Since I was awake at a decent time, for a Saturday anyway, I decided to get out of the house for a few errands and I had wanted to check out this store I had heard about recently...

Boy was I glad I checked out Our Friends Closet in Raleigh! I am always on the lookout for a good bargain, but this place was a true find! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the majority of the boutique was 50-90% off! Wow. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Add to this excitement the fact that the store wasn't like most consignment stores that smell and are dirty - No, not this one. It was really, really cute and had major labels, not just brands you'd find at the local discount store. Brands like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Marc Jacobs, and even COACH purses! Really! I tried on a bunch of items but walked out with only a few (not my best day for trying on clothes I guess). I was so excited to only spend $50 on what I bought. Check it out!

Anne Klein Slingbacks (never worn) - $12

Silpada Necklace - $5

Silk Blouse - $12

Calvin Klein Blazer - $2.50
Banana Republic Cardigan - $3

Franco Sarto Purse - $14
I was so happy with my bargains! In this economy, saving a few bucks, or alot in this case, is always a good thing! I'm sure there are plenty of great consignment shops in your area - check 'em out! You might be surprised!

I wasn't done yet...

I had some grocery shopping to do and I knew just where to go... Harris Teeter! This grocery store every once and awhile offers SUPER DOUBLE COUPONS up to $1.98 in value! So, any $1 or $1.50 for example is doubled to $2 or $3! This is when I try to stock up on items using my big value coupons. I bought the following today:

  • (10) Weight Watchers Yogurts
  • Ball Park Hot Dogs Buns
  • (3) 12pk Pepsi Products
  • Tropicana OJ
  • Stand 'n Stuff Taco Shells
  • Nature Valley Granola Thins
  • Smuckers Jam
  • 4 lbs of Ribs (ready to eat)
  • 1lb Deli Mac & Cheese (ready to eat)
  • Febreze Air Freshener
  • Athenos Feta Cheese
  • Thomas English Muffins
  • Skintimate Shaving Cream
  • Bic Razors
Want to know what I spent? Only $41!! I hadn't planned on the ribs since I didn't have a coupon for it, but they were discounted down to $7.99 each and they each had an extra $3 OFF on them (sell by today)! I couldn't turn it down, plus this way I didn't have to make dinner! A win win! :-)

I also stopped by Borders, which is sadly going out of business, and I bought two books & bookmarks for under $15.

Such a great day! I love couponing and I love to save money even more. It's MY money... why would I want to spend it unnecessarily?

Do you coupon? Do you like to bargain shop? Tell me about it!

Who Is Rebecca Black?

Well, I asked myself that same question a couple times over the past couple weeks... once after seeing someone being mentioned as 'Rebecca Black' in Katy Perry's music video "Last Friday Night" & most recently when she was named "Choice Web Star" for the recent Teen Choice Awards (yes, I watch the TCA's!). I scratched my head trying to figure out who the heck this chick was and it bothered me that I had no idea, especially since I normally try to keep up with "pop culture". But then again, pop culture changes so dang quickly these days and is so flippin' finicky who the heck can keep up! lol! But I digress... I had to look this chick up. OH MY. She's the girl who sang that song "Friday" and released a video (back in March of this year) on YouTube that went viral overnight. It was all starting to make sense. I guess. I had heard about her and this video but never took a look-see (or listen) for myself... until about 5 minutes ago. No offense to her, or her attempt at trying to make something of her career, but I think I lost a few brain cells. I mean... really!? Is that all it takes to make it in the music business these days? Wow. I am perplexed and stupefied. She's a cute girl, but THIS song is so (fill in the blank).

In case you, like me, don't really know who Rebecca Black is, check out her now infamous video:

I guess Katy Perry has taking a liking to her, because she featured her in her most recent video (which I ♥ BTW).

Again, and I'm not trying to be cruel, but it just saddens me that there are artists who don't get all the glitz & glamour who are in fact truly talented & are insanely gifted singer/songwriters. Not really fair.

But, Rebecca Black... I commend you. I raise my glass to the auto-tune movement. NOT.

Rant over. Kthxbye.
