Saturday Bargain Hunting

What a Saturday this has been! First, I am woken up by my Munchkin, Nugget being even more affectionate than usual - He was basically my alarm clock. Normally I would gently nudge him off me as I'm not a morning person, but I didn't have the heart today. He was just so darn cute! I had my phone nearby, since the alarm starting going off, so I was able to snap these adorable pictures before he decided he was bored with me! :)

And a quick video, just before he got bored...

{My apologies for the groggy voice - again, I had just woken up!}

Since I was awake at a decent time, for a Saturday anyway, I decided to get out of the house for a few errands and I had wanted to check out this store I had heard about recently...

Boy was I glad I checked out Our Friends Closet in Raleigh! I am always on the lookout for a good bargain, but this place was a true find! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the majority of the boutique was 50-90% off! Wow. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Add to this excitement the fact that the store wasn't like most consignment stores that smell and are dirty - No, not this one. It was really, really cute and had major labels, not just brands you'd find at the local discount store. Brands like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Marc Jacobs, and even COACH purses! Really! I tried on a bunch of items but walked out with only a few (not my best day for trying on clothes I guess). I was so excited to only spend $50 on what I bought. Check it out!

Anne Klein Slingbacks (never worn) - $12

Silpada Necklace - $5

Silk Blouse - $12

Calvin Klein Blazer - $2.50
Banana Republic Cardigan - $3

Franco Sarto Purse - $14
I was so happy with my bargains! In this economy, saving a few bucks, or alot in this case, is always a good thing! I'm sure there are plenty of great consignment shops in your area - check 'em out! You might be surprised!

I wasn't done yet...

I had some grocery shopping to do and I knew just where to go... Harris Teeter! This grocery store every once and awhile offers SUPER DOUBLE COUPONS up to $1.98 in value! So, any $1 or $1.50 for example is doubled to $2 or $3! This is when I try to stock up on items using my big value coupons. I bought the following today:

  • (10) Weight Watchers Yogurts
  • Ball Park Hot Dogs Buns
  • (3) 12pk Pepsi Products
  • Tropicana OJ
  • Stand 'n Stuff Taco Shells
  • Nature Valley Granola Thins
  • Smuckers Jam
  • 4 lbs of Ribs (ready to eat)
  • 1lb Deli Mac & Cheese (ready to eat)
  • Febreze Air Freshener
  • Athenos Feta Cheese
  • Thomas English Muffins
  • Skintimate Shaving Cream
  • Bic Razors
Want to know what I spent? Only $41!! I hadn't planned on the ribs since I didn't have a coupon for it, but they were discounted down to $7.99 each and they each had an extra $3 OFF on them (sell by today)! I couldn't turn it down, plus this way I didn't have to make dinner! A win win! :-)

I also stopped by Borders, which is sadly going out of business, and I bought two books & bookmarks for under $15.

Such a great day! I love couponing and I love to save money even more. It's MY money... why would I want to spend it unnecessarily?

Do you coupon? Do you like to bargain shop? Tell me about it!
